Scott Gallagher: Barred Owl Staring Contest
I was walking my dog "Vito" around Smith Creek as I do a few times a week, and just as the sun was setting, I saw this owl silently glide into a Longleaf Pine. I approached and got into a staring contest, thinking he would fly off at any second, but instead, we just looked at each other, and he tolerated a few photos before Vito started barking and ended the encounter.
